brakeman turn your head and look the other way. i've got a boxcar dream and a flatbed hope; i need to get away. it's raining again and my money's gone. i've got my soul, is that enough? the rails are wet, my hair is a mess; i don't think i can keep playing tough.

i've got to go, this town is drowning me. i've got to go, it's time for me to leave.

i've got a bottle of wine and a flask of scotch, so i've got everything i need. i don't look back. i don't turn around. i've no one left to please. a weak heart and a strong back are all i have to offer them, and at the end of the line if i'm not what they need, then i'm back at the start again.
